National Center for Palms and Dates Organizes Workshop to Develop the Palm and Dates Sector in Al-Ahsa

 Under the patronage of His Royal Highness Prince Saud bin Talal bin Badr, Governor of Al-Ahsa, the National Center for Palms and Dates organized a workshop titled “Development of the Palm and Dates Sector in Al-Ahsa,” with wide participation from stakeholders and professionals in the sector.

The workshop was attended by the CEO of the Center, Dr. Mohammad Alnuwairan, along with a large number of date producers and farmers, traders from across the Kingdom, major importers from the United Arab Emirates, in addition to relevant government entities, advisory bodies, and the Royal Commission for Al-Ahsa.

The event opened with an introductory presentation about the Center’s role and initiatives, followed by the sharing of valuable experiences in cultivating various palm varieties that meet the requirements of both local and international markets. The workshop also highlighted successful international export stories by leading exporters, the experiences of cooperative societies in the sector, and showcased advanced processed date products.

In his remarks, His Highness the Governor emphasized that each region has its own comparative advantages and unique characteristics, adding that Al-Ahsa stands out with distinctive strengths in the date industry. He praised the role of the Saudi government, represented by the relevant authorities and centers, in providing research and support to develop the sector.

His Highness also highlighted the responsibility of investors and farmers in leveraging the available services and translating them into practical benefits that enhance their operations and contribute to positioning the Kingdom as a global leader in the date sector.

The workshop concluded with a discussion of key outcomes and recommendations, aiming to overcome current challenges across the value chain and capitalize on available opportunities to further develop the palm and dates sector in alignment with Saudi Vision 2030.
