Saudi Arabia’s exports of dates and date products recorded a significant increase during the first quarter of 2023, reaching a value of over SAR 566 million, reflecting a growth of 2.5% compared to the same period in 2022. Stored and fresh dates accounted for 77% of total exports, while 23% came from processed and manufactured date products.

According to statistics issued by the National Center for Palms and Dates, Saudi date exports reached 111 countries worldwide, with six countries leading in terms of the highest increase in export value:

  • China: SAR 7,654,212 increase (150%)
  • Austria: SAR 1,996,000 increase (60%)
  • Belgium: SAR 1,232,592 increase (23%)
  • Turkey: SAR 22,303,831 increase (30%)
  • Russia: SAR 2,697,239 increase (95%)
  • Canada: SAR 3,993,901 increase (40%)

The Center affirmed that these achievements reflect the great attention and support of the Kingdom’s leadership toward boosting non-oil revenues and enhancing the palm and date production sector, in addition to the pivotal role of partners — particularly farmers.

The National Center for Palms and Dates emphasized that Saudi Vision 2030 has given special importance to the development and sustainability of the palm and dates sector, working from an early stage to implement programs aimed at increasing the sector’s contribution to national exports.

The Center noted that ongoing efforts focus on collaboration between national companies, relevant government entities, and date producers and exporters to facilitate export procedures, develop value chains, improve production quality and quantity, enhance marketing efficiency, encourage investment, provide essential data and studies, and strengthen supply chain performance and institutional and human capabilities.
