The Kingdom of Saudi Arabia has achieved a significant global milestone in the palm and dates sector, ranking first worldwide in date exports by value for the year 2021, according to international trade reports.
The Kingdom recorded the highest global annual growth rate in date exports, reaching 13% over the past five years, reflecting a steady and growing demand for Saudi dates in global markets.
In 2021, the total value of Saudi date exports reached SAR 1.215 billion, marking an increase of 110% compared to previous years. This underscores the substantial progress made in developing this strategic agricultural sector.
Saudi dates were exported to 113 countries worldwide, highlighting their high quality and strong competitiveness in international markets. This growth has been supported by the integrated efforts of the National Center for Palms and Dates, in cooperation with government entities and the private sector, and aligns with the goals of Saudi Vision 2030 to enhance non-oil exports.
The National Center for Palms and Dates continues to implement programs and initiatives that improve the value chain of the date sector, increase global recognition of Saudi products, and strengthen their presence in international markets as a model of high-quality and safe food products.
